A Path Forward: Updates and Progress in the District Court Election

Updated: Mar 1

In recent weeks, significant developments have shaped the trajectory of our campaign. This post serves to provide a comprehensive breakdown of recent events and outline our strategy moving forward.

The Primary Race

As many of you are aware, I have been engaged in a contested Democratic primary against Blair Williams for District Court Judge District 10D Seat 5. We've dedicated extensive effort to fundraising and mobilizing voters for the primary, scheduled for March 5, 2024. However, I must announce a shift in our focus.

While I deeply appreciate the support and effort of our team and supporters, winning this particular seat is no longer imperative for our campaign's progression (see "The General Election" below). Keep in mind that if I win the primary, I will have to resign the seat. Nonetheless, I urge all voters to participate in the primary, as there are other critical races on the ballot. Visit NC Voter Search, enter your name, and scroll down the page to find a link to your ballot to begin your research on the candidates.

The General Election

On February 1, 2024, the Honorable Judge Ned Mangum retired from District Court, thereby creating a second seat, Seat 3, up for contention in District 10D. Unlike the primary race for Seat 5, Seat 3 will not undergo a primary contest. Instead, the Democratic Party conducted a nomination process to determine the candidate for the general election in November. I am honored to announce that I emerged as the top candidate during this nomination process and will appear on the ballot for the general election. No doubt the work we have put into my campaign played a role in me securing the nomination! With a Republican opponent already identified, our campaign has redirected its focus towards the upcoming general election.

Stay Informed and Engaged

In the weeks ahead, I will provide further insights into our campaign. I encourage all supporters and voters to stay engaged and informed as we progress towards the general election. Together, we can drive positive change and ensure a fair and just judicial system for all. Stay tuned for more updates!
